Annual Project Day  May 1, 2010

The Labor of Love annual Project Day is held one Saturday each Spring. In 2009, more than 650 volunteers disbursed to all corners of Livingston County to help thier neighbors on Project Day.

Projects are divided into the following types:

Major Projects

Teams of 10 to 20 people working at one location on one large task, or multiple small tasks.

Examples include: paint the outside of a home, siding installation, handicap ramp construction, major cleaning, kitchen remodel, bathroom project.

Minor Projects

A team of one to four people on one or two tasks at a location.

Examples include: replacing a door or window, heavy landscaping, install a railing, replace a sink, electrical repair, etc.

Safety Patrol

Mobile handyman service. Goes into homes and does a safety inspection to check for life and safety issues.

Examples of work include: installing smoke detectors, changing light bulbs, checking door locks and railings, moving heavy objects.

Rake and Run

Groups of 10 to 20 youth with adult leaders caravan to sites and undertake spring yard clean ups. The large numbers make it easy to complete a house in 20 to 40 minutes.

Clean Team

Groups of four to eight people visit homes and perform interior spring cleaning. Projects that are needed to improve the health of individuals are given priority.

Examples of work include cleaning: carpets, closets, kitchen cabinets, appliances, windows, walls, and removing unwanted items.
